Fotos,

The first time I went to the coast south of San Francisco was in the Autumn of 2002, for the first road trip with my UC Irvine buddies, Don, Ali and Simone.  In 2006 I was there after a few months that I started working for IXYS. The company had offered me to have specific product trainings in all the divisions of the company, and the headquarters luckly happened to be in the Silicon Valley near San Francisco. I spent there 4 weeks cruising around with a purple Hyunday generally considered to be among the most horrible cars ever produced, but that looked to me like the best car in the world. At that time it seemed unreal being paid to travel and it all looked (and maybe was) like a game.

The very first weekend I drove from Santa Clara down the 1, the Pacific Coastal Highway, until I saw the sun disappear in the pacific ocean at my right. In my loneliness, with thoughts about the new phase of my life that had just began, starting my first real job in a new country where I couldn’t understand the language, I couldn’t stop smiling looking at the beautiful landscape which I had the chance to taste once again and thinking about how many things had happened since the last time I was there.

The second weekend Mario and Ryan, also my housemates while i was at UCI, came up from SoCal and I drove a little bit with Ryan around the region between Half-Moon Bay and San Francisco waiting for Mario who arrived a little bit later. While doing a short hike and arriving to a road we saw live, in front of us, a car hitting a rock and flipping over. In the tragedy of the moment I just could hold the camera in my pocket (see picture at the link below)…;)
